Staying Fit on Vacation at Jamaica Hotels

Think you deserve a vacation? You probably do! During the winter months, Caribbean destinations such as Jamaica is a favorite hot spot for vacationers who want to soak up some sun.

The hotels and resorts found here often feature all-inclusive packages where the food and drink come unlimited. Think about it, imagine being able to eat unlimited jerk chicken, mannish water (a Jamaican soup) and seafood as much as you want!

Because it’s so easy to get carried away, there’s a ton of sport and vacation activities that you can do to stay fit.  So, let’s talk about some of the activities you can do to remain in shape while here.

For starters, there’s Golf. Who doesn’t love a good game of this sport? While not the most intense calorie-burner, the game can help shed a few pounds depending on whether you walk the course or take a golf cart ride. For an average game of nine holes, you can expect to burn around 621 calories. If you take the alternate route and ride in a cart, you can expect to burn 421. Of course, these are just estimates; the idea is to be as active as possible.

At most of the popular tourist hot-spots, you’ll also find “non-motorized” sports such as kayaking, pedal boarding, and wind surfing. These activities give your muscles a pretty decent workout. Your hands come into play as you use your double-bladed paddle to maneuver your way through the water. If any waves are coming your way, you can expect a challenge and even get tired! A good exercise in our opinion.

Another good way to keep active is to engage in the activities of the resort. Many places show the rich culture of our beautiful island through music and dance. Dancehall and reggae which put Jamaica on the map around the world encourage you to rock and “be a little crazy.” So, don’t be too shy if you’re asked by the entertainment team to jump up on stage and dance. Be sure to video the moment too and have a laugh as you remember the precious memories.

Speaking of memories, ensure you check out the many attractions and things to see in Jamaica. One such activity you can experience is “bobsledding” at Mystic Mountains. Fun times ahead!

Now, this suggestion isn’t necessarily an activity that will keep you active. But rather it’s a measure you can put in place to ensure you don’t get too carried away. Can you guess what it is?

Eat in moderation of course. As mentioned before, it’s quite easy to get carried away when you have access to as much food as you want. Our recommendation is to prepare ahead of time. There will be fatty foods, unhealthy snacks, and delicious desserts. All ready for you to dive in. But it’s important that you exercise constraint. For example, you may want to swap pasta for a serving of delicious vegetables. It’s also crucial that you don’t skip any meals – breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all important.

Fancy some volleyball or football? You’ll often find courts for this fun games at the best destination hotels. If there’s none available, just ask the staff what similar sporting activities there are (there’s always one or two out there).

These are just a few of the suggestions you can try out while on vacation. Remember to have fun and make memories!
